At a panel with Hannes Heide (EP CULT),\u00a0 Leo Kilroy (Irish Education and Skills Attach\u00e9), representatives from the Polish EU Presidency and the European University Association, ESU highlighted the oddity of the EU competitiveness and security debate. While the EU strives to establish itself against major global powers, it neglects the importance of higher education for innovation and higher skills as cornerstones of competitiveness. In addition, the neglect comes at a time when the EU could establish itself as ga lobal education superpower, given the vacuum the retreat of the U.S. is leaving behind, pointing towards an obvious need to increase the Erasmus+ and Horizon budgets to reach the goals of the new EU agenda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
