{"id":2752,"date":"2018-12-08T14:49:47","date_gmt":"2018-12-08T14:49:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esu-online.org\/new2022\/mind-our-education-mental-health-campaign\/"},"modified":"2018-12-08T14:49:47","modified_gmt":"2018-12-08T14:49:47","slug":"mind-our-education-mental-health-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esu-online.org\/mind-our-education-mental-health-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"#MindOurEducation: Students draw attention to Mental Health issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On 17 November 2018, recognised all around the world as the International Students\u2019 Day, the European Students\u2019 Union (ESU) launched together with the Organising Bureau of European School Student Unions <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.obessu.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(OBESSU)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the campaign #MindOurEducation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year, the campaign focused on the Mental Health of students under the title \u201cMind Our Education\u201d. One of ESU\u2019s strategic political priorities for the period 2018-2020 is to advocate for a better specific support for students with health issues including mental health.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our demands, together with OBESSU, were focused on all students to be guaranteed a healthy environment in order to fully access education.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The call has been signed by 52 organisations from all over the world, with messages of support still being received days after the call was closed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adam Gajek, Vice president of ESU, talked about the importance of remembering the struggle of the students\u2019 body and the issues students face in Europe regarding mental health:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Europeanstudents\/videos\/569179160189566\/\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Europeanstudents\/videos\/569179160189566\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also, Katrina Koppel, Vice President of the European Students\u00b4Union (ESU) expressed support to the campaign:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Europeanstudents\/videos\/543380626088036\/\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Europeanstudents\/videos\/543380626088036\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The campaign obtained good engagement through \u00a0social media channels (Facebook and Twitter), where users shared the campaign and manifested support:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5200\" src=\"http:\/\/esu-online.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Screen-Shot-2018-12-08-at-16.42.59.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"462\" height=\"382\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5201\" src=\"http:\/\/esu-online.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Screen-Shot-2018-12-08-at-16.43.41.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"459\" height=\"363\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5202\" src=\"http:\/\/esu-online.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Screen-Shot-2018-12-08-at-16.44.31.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"323\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5203\" src=\"http:\/\/esu-online.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Screen-Shot-2018-12-08-at-16.45.18.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"488\" height=\"125\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Background<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The International Students\u2019 Day held on 17 November, commemorates the anniversary of the tragic event in \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1939, when eight students and a professor were murdered in a crackdown on students protests by the invading Nazi regime.
